New Years Resolutions {RUN!}

I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and jot down some thoughts reflecting back on their year and setting some new goals.

This year has been pretty amazing. I'm so grateful that...

{1} My husband and I got to spend more time together. With him being in the Navy, we had to live apart for periods of time (and survived a 9-month development). This year was MUCH better. I kind of like having him around. :)

{2} We bought a house!

{3} We got our very first kitten. We adopted an older cat in 2013, but it's been fun seeing our little guy grow. We got him when he was less than 2 months old.

{4} I got my CCC's and had a successful first year. I love my school and my students!

{5} I started a Teachers Pay Teachers store. I'd been thinking about opening a store for a very long time. I finally bit the bullet in August, and I haven't regretted it. I have met so many amazing people, and I love being a part of the TPT community.

How about some new goals?
I started reading the book, Move Your Bus by Ron Clark. I still need to finish the book (so that's part one of the goal), but the the idea of being a runner to really "move my bus" really resonates with me. I am going to strive to be more of a runner! I have a lot of busses that I want to move (and I definitely have my work cut out for me).

{1} School: There are three things that I really want to focus on this year.
A) Streamlining my data taking and paperwork. I spend SO much time on these tasks and have some ideas to be more efficient. Stay tuned!
B) Continuing to be involved in the RTI process at my school. I created some resources for teachers (for professional development and actual intervention). We've gotten some good results so far, but we have a long way to go.
C) Teaching students about their brains. Thank to Amy Harris, I've been inspired to learn more about growth mindset (check out this blog post). I think it is SO important for our students (especially those with special needs), and I am looking forward to implementing some of these strategies in my speech room. I already got my glitter washi tape, so I am ready!

{2} Professional Development: I am going to read more (both for professional development and for pleasure). I found a TON of audio books (thank you, public library!) to listen to on my way to and from work. I spend about 1.5 hours in the car every day, so that's A LOT of reading and learning coming my way.

{3} TPT: I am SO excited to go to the Teachers Pay Teachers conference in Orlando! I'm looking forward to learning even more about TPT and meeting some of the fabulous ladies I've been chatting with over the past few months. I think this will be a huge step in the right direction for my business. I'm still really new to TPT, so I'm not sure what the best goals are for me (yet). This will be a work in progress. I know one of my goals will be to create more products. Depending on which route I go, I'm shooting for 1-2 products a month.

{4} Blog: I am starting a new blog series (stay tuned!), and I will be posting once a week. I'm excited, because I think it will be a great way to connect with all of you!

{5} Community: I  turned in my application to start a new Girls on the Run site at my school. I volunteered for GOTR in grad school and LOVED it.

{6} Move: While I'm running with the girls at my site, I also want to run more myself. I ran a 10K in grad school, and it was such a great experience. Soon after the 10K, I injured my foot and got discouraged. I am finally ready to pick it up again. My goal is to be active at least two times a week (whether it be running, yoga, kickboxing, or even walking--depending on how my body does!) and run at least one race.

{7} Hubby: Last but not least, I want to go on some adventures with my husband. Last year, we went to Hawaii, which was obviously amazing. We'd love to go back this year, but we're not sure if we can make it happen. This year, we went to Portland and Leavenworth (and took a few day trips to Seattle). We talked about taking a few more (mini) trips in 2016.

Whew, that's a lot of busses to move! I'm feeling energized and ready for the challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!

What went well for you this year? What are your New Year's resolutions?
